The Fifth Annual Garrett Michael Berg – Remembering Those Who Rode – Memorial Race held Sunday, October 1, 2006 at Splendora Motocross Park in Splendora, TX.
For those who have yet to participate in the annual GMB memorial motocross race at Splendora Motocross Park, here's part of a press release for background info:
"The memorial race, started after the death of Garrett Berg, is held to honor those riders that have lost their life in the sport we all love, motocross. Participants share a bond beyond that of just racing against one another - as racers, families, and friends that have lost someone close to them come together to share memories and help one another find a way to make it through the dark days after losing a loved one. All proceeds from the race go to the GMB Memorial Fund, which is used to assist motocross families that have lost a loved one. About Garrett Berg: On September 22nd, 2002 Garrett was practicing on his YZ450F. While practicing, he over-jumped a triple step-up and ran into a tree. With his father at his side, Garrett gave his life that day. Garrett had been well-known on a popular motocross website (thumpertalk.com), and through the site word of his death spread through the motocross community. As a way to honor his life, the “GMB” memorial race was held for the first time in December of 2002. For more information and photos: http://gmb.allthingsmoto.com.
